FLY FM is an innovative youth empowerment channel based in Durban (South Africa), that strives to empower the city's Urban back youth The station was conceptualized by JD Mdu, a well established and professional Radio presenter (2000 - 2015) who has worked for Mr Price Group's Redcap Radio, DYR 105.1 FM and Vuma FM. JD has been servig as the programs manager for Durban Youth Radio (DYR 105.1 FM) for over five years (since 2018). Upon extensive research and observing how the broadcast consumption trends have been evolving, FLY FM was conceptualized in late 2023 and launched in April 2024. The station strives to utilize strategic elements of traditional radio, infused with modern media, to entertain and empower its audience.
